Putting the sparkle into Bonfire Night

The Autumn / Winter season is here, hooray! This is categorically my favourite time of year, jammed packed with parties, festivals of various shapes and sizes, warm cosy knitwear and the alluring aroma of mulled wine.

One of my favourite events in this quarter of the calendar is the spectacular sparkling occasion, Bonfire Night. There is nothing better than wrapping up in your warmest jumper, coat and woolly hat and heading off to a local firework display with friends and family. For all you non-Brits reading, this is where we celebrate that our Houses of Parliament wasn’t blown up by Guy Fawkes by letting off lots of explosives. Slightly ironic perhaps, but it makes for a great evening out! Whilst many of you may not usually consider dressing up for such an occasion, at Jewellery Monthly, we believe that every occasion can be complimented by a beautiful array of jewellery.

So in honour of the season, we have collected together a range of sizzling sparklers for you to feast your eyes on no matter what your style or budget.

Alyssa Smith – ‘Twink’ collection

Given that Bonfire Night is the one night of the year you are almost guaranteed to a) be outside (weather permitting of course) and b) looking upwards, what could be better than celebrating the occasion with some beautiful star jewellery?

The Twink Collection from the princess of magic Alyssa Smith is small and perfectly formed, featuring cute tiny silver stars in two styles of earrings as well as an accompanying necklace, perfect for attracting attention this Guy Fawkes night. All pieces are made from sterling silver. Check out www.alyssasmith.co.uk to get your stars! (prices are £25 for the Twink necklace and the basic earrings and £28 for the drops).

Swarovski – Stardust Bracelets

If you have checked out the cover of Stylist magazine lately you may well have seen model Miranda Kerr sporting some gorgeous glittering bracelets. This is the new collection by Swarovski, known as ‘Stardust’. These beautiful wrist pieces come in a wide variety of colours and are created using a coloured fishnet tube and filled with the corresponding colour crystals.

The result is an eye catching accessory that be combined with other colours to create a fabulous sparkling cuff effect. The bracelets are available in two lengths, the longer of which can be wrapped around the wrist twice or worn as a choker. If you would like to grab one of these lovelies for yourself, check out the collection
at www.swarovski.com. Prices start at £49 for a single bracelet and go up to £99 for a combination set.

Clogau – Make a Wish collection

If you are looking for a little shooting star, then you should definitely take a look at the Make a Wish collection from welsh brand Clogau.

Specialising in pieces using rare welsh gold, this collection combines gorgeous silver, rose gold and diamonds to create beautiful pieces, perfect for those who like to wish on a star or two! Prices for these pieces are : £119 for the earrings, £129 for the ring and £159 for the necklace. These pieces and many others can be found on the Clogau website www.clogau.co.uk.

Lewis Malka

For our firework finale, we would like to introduce our readers to the stunning work of Lewis Malka. What could be more romantic than being proposed to whilst fireworks go off in the background? The setting almost screams proposal (it also happens to be how I was proposed to, so I can highly recommend it). For those amongst you planning to pop the question this Bonfire Night, or if you simply fancy treating someone you love to a beautiful diamond, look no further than diamond and engagement ring specialist, Lewis Malka.

Recently voted onto the council of the London Diamond Bourse at his Hatton Garden HQ, Lewis Malka takes the time to hold one-to-one appointments with every customer to ensure that every ring produced is the perfect fit for them. His exceptionally personal approach to jewellery enables his passion for outstanding design and incredible craftsmanship to produce one off rings that stand out from the crowd. His exceptional results have enabled Lewis to grow a superb reputation in London, allowing him to have some high profile clientele across the world. He is also often called upon to give his view on all those celebrity rocks we enjoy salivating over.

For this piece we thought it was appropriate to feature Lewis’ absolutely stunning halo rings, their beautiful design reminds us of cascades of fireworks exploding into the sky surrounded by a halo of sparkling stars.
